What is the link between certain cosmetic products and the risk of cancer?

Although many cosmetics on the market comply with basic regulations, several studies have warned about the continued use of substances such as parabens, phthalates, PEGs, silicones or synthetic fragrances. Some of these ingredients have been identified as potential endocrine disruptors, which are capable of interfering with the body's hormonal system. In some cases, a link has been observed between their accumulation in the body and an increased risk of hormone-dependent pathologies, such as some types of cancer.

My Harmony cares for your skin and your emotions without endocrine disruptors or aggressive ingredients.
Our line has been formulated with 100 % natural ingredients, selected not only for their effectiveness, but also for their respect for your hormonal, neurological and emotional balance.

At My Harmony, We believe that true beauty starts with confidence in what you apply every day. That's why all of our products are free of toxics y endocrine disruptors, are safe for sensitive skin and are laboratory-produced to ensure the maximum safety and quality.

We take care of your skin in a conscious and natural way, respecting both your skin and your health as that of the planet.

Parabens

They are widely used preservatives in creams, lotions, deodorants and make-up. Studies have shown that parabens can mimic the action of oestrogen in the human body, a hormone implicated in certain types of breast cancer (Journal of Applied Toxicology, Darbre et al., 2004).

Phthalates

They are used in perfumes, hairsprays and nail polishes. The WHO and other agencies such as the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) have warned about their possible role as endocrine disruptors.

Coal tar and petroleum derivatives

Present in scalp products or skin treatments. Classified as carcinogenic by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).

Formaldehyde and formaldehyde releasers

Common in nail polish and some shampoos. Formaldehyde is considered a human carcinogen (IARC Monographs on the Evaluation of Carcinogenic Risks to Humans, 2012).

The real risk: daily, cumulative and silent exposure

The main concern is not a single use, but repeated and cumulative exposure over years.

What do the experts say?

WHO: recommends minimising exposure to substances classified as possible carcinogens, especially for pregnant women, children and vulnerable people (WHO - Environmental health criteria for endocrine-disrupting chemicals, 2012).
American Cancer Society: stresses the importance of ‘carefully assessing the composition of products for personal use in order to reduce avoidable risks’.

Conventional cosmetics vs. natural cosmetics: a question of conscience

While conventional cosmetics still use synthetic preservatives and artificial perfumes, certified natural cosmetics rely on:

- Ingredients of vegetable origin.
- Avoid compounds with suspected hormonal or carcinogenic risks.
- Clean and respectful formulas.

At Mi Harmony, our top priority is to take care of you and your family.
